    Record | Master | Notate Still learning a new song that your recording? Here's a quick tip: Keep the flow of the tune moving going rather than stopping and starting over the recording (especially if you're doing it by yourself). Let the recording continue, play it back after your first "cut" and re-record your "fix" as a new track layer where you last made a mistake.

    Audacity make it very easy to cut, paste,splice, and overlay sections that you may want to tweak after a first rough take.

    Multiple tracks also allows harmony, additional instrumentation or otherwise, to capture the full idea of a song you may have in mind.

    For more sophisticated users with less concern for price, consider Adobe Audition or DigiDesign ProTools. PLEASE be sure to understand the proper configuraiton on your machine. Many a user has crashed thier hard drive with the inccorect config, or pushing their system to its limit. These types of programs allocate a parge amount of hard drive space as a 'temp' or 'scratch' disk until the complete project is merged to it's final form. Similarly Audacity save files in a Audacity Project file (,aup) until you choose to export it as .wav or .mp3. Please use with Caution!
